Fashion forecast for winter

winter3.jpg

In your teens to early twenties, fashion was trend based and you were always chasing the latest fads. In your late twenties and upwards, fashion is more about investing in classic pieces that are age appropriate and will last you for a few seasons.

Assert your fashion independence and choose pieces that suit your body type and shape. You should know by now what the best parts of your body are to play up and the bits to play down but you’re not a one trick pony and not afraid to experiment with bold and playful accessories to create a signature style.

Patent is a virtue
Fendi patent leather bag

Patent leather has proven to be a winter staple in clothes and accessories. Patent leather is a practical yet pretty material that can withstand the winter weather and still look immaculate. Dress up a jacket with a patent leather belt or team up patent leather pumps with a winter dress and stockings. Exercise caution when choosing to wear all patent knee high boots. This might look good on a catwalk but doesn’t always translate well to real life. You’ve been warned.

Get knitted

Burberry

Knits work well in all shapes, colours and sizes. Whether it’s a hooded three quarter sleeveless jacket or a mini bolero you’re lemming, there is a knit that will suit your body shape, type and price range. Knits are a sound investment so stock up this winter.

The time is tight

Tights are a very versatile item that can be worn with anything from boots and platforms and allow you to keep wearing sexy dresses all throughout winter. Opaque tights take a back seat as patterned tights step into the spotlight. Previously a fashion faux pas, tights can be worn with peep toe shoes. Make sure that if you do try this look that the tights have a seamless toe.

I love winter dressing … the opaque stockings, chunky shoes & warm winter coats. There are so many things I’m lemming at the moment.
